About Park City Sailing Association Park City Sailing Association (PCSA) is a vibrant, community-focused sailing program dedicated to cultivating a diverse and welcoming community of sailors in Utah. We provide enriching experiences for sailors of all ages and backgrounds through outreach, boat access, racing, social events, and educational opportunities using our well-maintained fleet and quality facilities at the stunning Jordanelle Reservoir. Nestled in Utah's mountain paradise, just a few minutes away from historic Park City old town, our programs emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun amid breathtaking scenery and year-round outdoor adventures. PCSA boasts an active sailing community with over 600 participants and 100 vessels. Our youth sailing school, led by Head Coach Christian Koules, serves more than 30 junior sailors in advanced programs, while our Guppy program introduces the youngest learners (ages 5–7) to the joys of sailing. We're proud recipients of the 2024 US Sailing Outstanding Community Sailing Program award, the 2017 Robie Pierce Award for Adaptive Sailing, and we hosted the 2025 U.S. Adult Sailing Championship. Position Overview The On-Shore Program Support (OSPS), serves as the primary on-shore support professional for the Junior Sailing Program. This role ensures a safe, organized, welcoming, and well-managed shore environment while providing attentive care to students who are injured, ill, or temporarily removed from on-water activities. The OSPS "Shore Parent" supports administrative logistics, parent communication, check-in/check-out procedures, and maintains a clean, professional facility consistent with US Sailing safety and SafeSport standards. This position works closely with the Program Director and Senior Instructors. Required Qualifications Current First Aid & CPR/AED Certification (Required) SafeSport Training (Required) Strong organizational and communication skills Experience working with youth Customer service or hospitality experience preferred Ability to maintain calm, nurturing demeanor in high-activity environments Core Responsibilities: 1.) Student Care & Supervision Supervise students who: Are injured Are not feeling well Are temporarily restricted from sailing Are assigned behavioral “shore time” Provide basic first aid within certification scope Maintain incident documentation in coordination with Program Director Contact parents/guardians when necessary Ensure students remain supervised at all times Follow all mandatory reporting and SafeSport protocols ⚠️ The Shore Parent does not provide medical diagnosis — only certified first aid and supervisory care. 2.) Parent Communication & Customer Experience Serve as a friendly, professional point of contact during program hours Assist with parent questions at drop-off and pick-up Support Monday morning parent orientation presentations Communicate clearly regarding: Minor injuries Illness concerns Behavioral notifications (as directed by leadership) Help reinforce program policies in a calm, supportive manner This role represents the tone and hospitality of the program on shore. 3.) Administrative & Logistical Support Manage daily check-in and check-out procedures Track attendance Assist with T-shirt distribution and merchandise Help organize registration materials and waivers Maintain updated emergency contact access Support filing and record keeping as assigned 4.) Facility & Equipment Organization Maintain clean, organized classroom and shore areas Ensure first aid supplies are stocked and accessible Monitor hydration stations and shade areas Assist with organization of life jackets and shore equipment Help maintain professional presentation of program facilities The Shore Parent is responsible for ensuring the on-shore environment reflects a safe and well-run program. 5.) Proven ability to entertain and engage kids creatively while maintaining structure and safety. Enthusiastic, patient, nurturing demeanor with strong communication and organizational skills. Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain with PCSA financial support). Clean background check (required for all staff). Physical ability to lift 30-40 lbs and work indoors and outdoors in all weather. Authorization to work in the United States (we unfortunately cannot provide sponsorship). Preferred qualifications Formal background in early childhood education or related field. Experience with play-based or experiential learning for young kids. Additional water safety certifications (e.g., lifeguard, basic keelboat knowledge). Familiarity with mountain lake conditions (e.g., wind shifts).
