Yorktel is currently seeking an Audio Engineer (A1) who will be responsible for the coordination, operation, and technical support, including but not limited to, audio equipment and production. This includes all weekly services, special events, and offsite events. The A1 will recruit, train, encourage, and lead audio technicians and sometimes client volunteers in production.
The Audio Engineer will perform research, preparation, and practice for the best use of production equipment and sound engineering to create an environment that best matches the production style desired. This individual works with the projectionist and the on-site technical leads to ensure audio requirements are complete for services and events. The Audio Engineer also works closely with the AV System Manager and technical leads on the recommendation and installation of audio equipment.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- The role requires proficiency with a wide range of AV and live production equipment, including but not limited to:
- Apple: iPad Pro for mobile and production support.
- Barco: Video production switcher controllers with integrated touch screens.
- Panasonic: Video camera controllers for precise management of camera systems.
- Riedel: Intercom systems, desktop smart panels, and medium-weight headsets for communication and coordination.
- Yamaha: Digital mixing consoles and I/O racks for comprehensive audio management.
- Additional systems: Supporting integrated AV operations
- Ability to train, develop and cast vision to adults, with energy and encouragement.
- Broad knowledge of audio production practices.
- Understanding and translating department goals and information into production concepts.
- Ability to make quick, accurate, independent decisions under pressure.
- Outstanding punctuality and flexibility to meet expectations of position.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Exhibits good judgment, honesty, integrity, responsibility, and punctuality through the utilization of professional work standards.
- Promptly performs other related duties as assigned and required with excellence.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of sound and/or production engineer; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Training and/or education in media production or a related field is preferred.
- Mastery knowledge of:
- Major digital audio consoles and sound reinforcement systems.
- Backline equipment and appropriate microphone placement.
- Audio equipment, connectivity, and industry terminology.
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP), signal flow, and level setting.
- Audio balancing, including mix-minus setups and hybrid streaming events.
- Relevant experience to assist other areas of the Live Production department preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent sitting and standing
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting AV equipment and standing or walking for extended periods during event support.
- Limited weekend and/or night work may be required
- Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts
