Each year, thousands of people take part in events across the UK to raise funds for Barnardo’s. As an event ambassador, you will provide on the day support at an event near you. This could include greeting and talking to participants, taking donations, and providing support to the Barnardo’s fundraising team. Your help will ensure our supporters feel engaged and valued and have a great experience. You can lend a hand in an ad hoc way to fit with your time commitments, or on a more regular basis. Events are usually around 4-6 hours in duration. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our work, gain hands-on event experience and be part of a supportive team. The Cardiff Half Marathon sees over 27,000 runners take on this iconic half Marathon every September. On Sunday 5th October we need your help creating an electric race day atmosphere for our team Barnardo’s runners at our charity cheer station in Wales Capital City, Cardiff! Barnardo’s cheerers are very important on race day, come rain or shine you make all the difference by creating a great atmosphere - making lots of noise, to help keep our amazing runners going. We have clappers, cheer sticks and instruments to help us be as visible and loud as possible! What you’ll get: The knowledge that you’re helping get runners to that finish line, snacks, and a Barnardo’s Volunteer T-shirt. Please do bring weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water with you. You don’t need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit, and enthusiasm. The role requires you to spend about 3 hours standing outdoors and to make lots of noise and make sure Team Barnardo’s have the loudest supporters on the course!

Tasks: Providing a warm welcoming and smile to everyone involved in the event.
Greeting and registering participants.
Cheering on everyone taking part during the event.
Guiding people to where they need to be and offering directions.
Serving refreshments (if applicable).
Collecting donations.
Thanking everyone for their contribution to Barnardo’s, whether they are providing a financial donation or taking part in an event.
Carrying out other tasks under the direction of Barnardo’s Fundraising team.
Adhering to any Barnardo’s policies and procedures shared with you at all times, including Barnardo’s: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
Volunteering within Barnardo’s Values and Behaviours.
