Position: Oncology Health Info Tech Department: Oncology Information Center Shift: 7AM-3:30PM Status: Full-time/ 80 hours per pay period Facility: Miami Valley Hospital The Oncology Health Information Tech will assist the Abstractors and Supervisor, per departmental policy and procedures, with the following, but not limited to, three main areas. Follow-Up – All aspects of patient follow-up including, but not limited to, checking listings for expired patients, researching online resources for patients lost to follow-up, and updating last date of contact and any cancer recurrence on patient abstracts. This may also include phone calls to patients and physician offices or generating and sending follow-up letters as needed. Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences – Work with oncology nurse navigators and our essential partners to obtain cases to be presented. Perform pre-and post-conference tasks. Assist with conference setup, including obtaining help from IT staff should there be technical difficulties with equipment during oncology conferences. Enter conference data into templates and/or oncology database for Commission on Cancer tracking. Participate in annual application process for CMEs to be provided for conference attendees. Maintain attendance lists and submit proper documentation to appropriate crediting-body for tracking of CMEs for participants. Commission on Cancer accreditation – As necessary, assist with simple reporting, data collection for Oncology Committee meeting reports or other documentation required for Commission on Cancer accreditation and compiling annual summary data. Education Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience Preferred experience: Medical OfficeMedical Office experience preferred Knowledge/Skills Technical skills of Medical Terminology and anatomy required Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excellent keyboarding skills of 40 wpm with accuracy Knowledgeable with various computer hardware Superior telephone skills Ability to work independently and with a team Attention to detail Effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills Flexibility with change and interruptions, attention to details
