POSITION SUMMARY:

Reports to the Director of Cancer Services. The Oncology Program Coordinator is an individual who performs clerical tasks in the coordination of the combined oncology services at Doctors Medical Center. He/she is able to work independently and use good judgment when making decisions necessary to complete assigned duties and maintains current communications within hospital departments, administration and medical staff. Oversees activities, data requests, and reports related to the compliance of the standards necessary to maintain certification of the Cancer program by the American College of Surgeons for inclusion in the Association of Community Cancer Centers.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • 3 – 5 years in similar department Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Basic knowledge of ACoS/CoC standards, Basic knowledge of Registry Operations and Data Standards and Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards, Basic knowledge of American Joint Committee on Cancer Staging schemes, all editions
  • Basic knowledge of Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Summary staging, Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Cnext Software (or other) cancer registry software.
    License/Certificates/Credentials: Current California Registered Nurse license or equivalent experience as a Healthcare Professional OR Obtains and maintains Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) within two years of hire date
