DESCRIPTION:

The University ArtsSciences department is looking to hire one or more individuals to provide instruction for the following IHSW courses:
IHSW 101 – Introduction into Human Services Work
IHSW 103 – Indigenous Wellness and Healthy Practices
IHSW 104 - Social and Health Issues in Indigenous Communities
IHSW 105 – Community Helping Project

* Note that these courses will be taught via MS Teams (synchronous, online) or by videoconference.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field. (A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with extensive work experience in a related field will be considered.)
  • Demonstrated extensive experience working with or in local indigenous communities or in-depth knowledge of local indigenous traditional practices.
  • Experience teaching online and use of learning management systems.
  • Commitment to student motivation and achievement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work and contribute positively to the College environment are essential

Preferred:

  • Ph.D in Social Work or First Nations Studies, or a closely related field;
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous students.
  • Experience with Indigenous Communities, Peoples and Culture.
  • Preference will be given to current residents of BC.
