PART TIME SECONDARY PHYSICS TEACHER

Role Title: Online Teacher
Subject Area: Science (Secondary) – Physics
Teaching Level: Years 7–11 (grouped by ability)
Reports to: Subject Head and/or Tribe Lead
Department: Teaching Team
Employment Type: Part-time, Long-Term Position
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Fulltime role approx £30-34k. This part time position is 0.51 FTE (Approx £15k to £17k)

✅ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics (or closely related field).
  • PGCE and QTS
  • 5+ years of teaching in British schools (minimum 3 years in the UK)
  • 3+ years of experience teaching GCSE (iGCSE preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS or international equivalent

  • Experience teaching online
  • Familiarity with Edexcel iGCSE Science specifications
  • Proficiency in virtual lab simulations and interactive science tools
  • Ability to bring science concepts to life through real-world applications

ABOUT THE ONLINE TEACHING ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSUBJECT-SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in your science specialism, Years 7-11.
  • Confidently adapt to teach other sciences if timetable needs require.
  • Follow KS3 National Curriculum principles while adding creative, inquiry-based approaches for Years 7-8.
  • Deliver the Edexcel iGCSE curriculum in your specialism for Years 9-11.
  • Develop and share high-quality resources, practical guides, videos, and quizzes.
  • Run short science-themed courses and contribute to science-related social clubs.
  • Participate in Science Week, online events, in-person lab days, and science fairs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create cross-curricular projects.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for students to take part in science competitions and enrichment activities.
  • Participate in international trips where science links are relevant.
  • Support UKVS marketing efforts, such as:
  • Short video experiments
  • Science fact clips
  • Blogs on new scientific discoveries
  • Promotional ideas to showcase STEM and UKVS
