Description Position Overview The 30+ year company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is positioned along the Gulf Coast providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to industry. The Onsite Medical Assistant is a senior-level team member who is responsible for performing many aspects of the occupational health center's services. Job duties and tasks are listed below. In addition, the Onsite Medical Assistant may be trained to perform other occupational health services not listed. The Onsite Medical Assistant is a vital part of the OHS program as a whole and will be required to perform other technician duties as requested by management to ensure safe and effective medical services to HASC customers. Essential Job Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment, which includes but not limited to the x-ray machine, medical tools and equipment, respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machine, audiometry machine, functional capacity machines, and breath alcohol machines Calibrate all equipment at the beginning of each day/month in accordance with manufacturer’s requirements Additional calibrations may be required at other times according to manufacturer's specifications Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and stations so that all safety and hygiene hazards to customers and FCE Technicians are identified and corrected Complete all the administrative steps applicable to the equipment so that all required information is verified and properly recorded Administer respirator fit tests in full compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard as needed Thoroughly disinfect and inspect each respirator upon completion of each test. Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to questions, concerns, and requests from customers with speed and professionalism Ensure all customer data and paperwork is kept confidential at all times. Facilitate medical patient's vital signs, triage, room placement, etc. Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software, lecture, and online training technology Attend and successfully pass a week long certifying course in NIOSH and CAOCH Attend and successfully pass all required drug and alcohol testing courses; test patients as needed Strive to maintain personal drug testing procedures that are flawless - undergo mandated remediation within 30 days of error notification Respond to after-hour calls as needed Promptly communicate with the radiology vendor to ensure quick x-ray reporting Facilitate State Radiologic inspections (x-ray technicians only) Assist with patient check-in/check-out procedures when requested Contribute to team effort by assisting with additional duties as assigned Preferred Skills & Qualifications At least 5 years of occupational medicine or equivalent experience General organizational skills High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Current full unrestricted certification Computer skills including electronic medical records Must be able to fully pass all job site verification requirements including but not limited to background check, drug screening, and safety examinations Advanced credentials preferred Requirements Customer service skills are required Male required Strong communication skills both written and oral Must enjoy working with the public and have a strong initiative to work independently and as a team member Must be able to adapt to work in varied environments and learn detailed procedures Proven ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions Cross-train and assist other departments as necessary Willingness to work at different locations if the company need arises Flexibility to work beyond scheduled shift time when necessary to take care of patient needs Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle training equipment and tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This job is typically in an office environment and will also require travel as needed.
