Description Posterity Group LLC is a veteran owned, service-disabled small business, headquartered in Rockville, MD, that specializes in federal government contracting and staffing. We are tasked with staffing The Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV with Onsite Optician. Working Hours: Minimum hours to provide fitting, repair, and measuring services are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, with the exception of authorized Federal Holidays. Opticians shall fill the medically necessary eyeglass prescription as written by the privileged VA eye care provider. Opticians shall ensure medical justification is within the prescription for any add-ons or shall communicate with the privileged VA eye care provider for updates. The Optician shall not alter the Veterans’ prescription Opticians shall be responsible for helping Veteran beneficiaries by greeting them, determining lifestyle needs for prescription eyewear, assisting with frame selection and making recommendations. The contractor shall perform measurements for pupillary distances, segment heights, base curves and review final frame selection choice with Veteran beneficiary. In addition, answer questions relating to Veteran beneficiary’s eyeglasses and eyeglass orders. Opticians must be able to verify eyeglass prescription specifications provided by the VAMC Optometry or Ophthalmology clinics. Opticians shall also be responsible for minor repairs and adjustments (i.e. replacing a missing screw, replacing nose pads, repairing broken frames, frame adjustments etc.) and shall have an adequate stock of spare parts to perform such minor repairs. Optician’s particular emphasis is placed in the provision of timely, high quality services and interacting appropriately, professionally, and productively with VA patients and staff members at all levels of organization. Requirements at least a GED at least 3 years of relevant experience any relevant certification is preferred
Responsibilities
The Optician is responsible for fitting, measuring, and repairing prescription eyewear for Veteran beneficiaries. They must ensure prescriptions are filled accurately as written by VA providers and provide professional customer service.
