Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Manager and will work closely with the
Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Cambridge, MA
Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:30 am – 4 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience managing associates required.
  • Management of Scientific services required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Knowledge of Information and ERP Systems; intermediate Microsoft Office Knowledge with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic understanding of Microsoft Access required.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional can-do demeanor required.
  • Basic purchasing knowledge required.
  • Ability to self-manage, self-motivate, be multitask orientated with flexible, adaptable, and proactive thinking required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with both customers and various departments within Avantor.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting with the confidence to make sound business decisions with limited consultation with manager.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. required.
  • GMP, GLP, CPR, spill containment, IATA, DOT, IMDG, Hazwoper, and/or OSHA training is desired.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and support team efforts to meet performance goals.
  • Coach, mentor, and train staff to ensure professional growth and job readiness.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage succession planning, and oversee scheduling and timecard approvals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for research staff, customers, service providers, and internal Avantor teams.
  • Act as liaison between Avantor Services, Sales, and customer stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with Avantor and customer policies, including EHS, Bioethics, and GxP standards.
  • Ensure Good Documentation Practices are followed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across internal and customer-owned workflows.
  • Support lab functions and operational responsibilities.
  • Oversee routine equipment maintenance and calibration (e.g., pH/conductivity meters, biosafety cabinets, RODI hoses).
  • Manage solution preparation, pickup, and disposal.
  • Communicate with requestors and maintain electronic solution systems.
  • Review and assess new solution/raw material entries for feasibility and duplication.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, SOWs, SPIs, and KPIs.
  • Develop cost savings and avoidance reports.
  • Monitor and report on departmental metrics and open order statuses.
  • Schedule regular reviews with customer leadership to share resource availability, volumes, and process improvements.
  • Provide training and development opportunities.
  • Serve as backup for critical tasks to ensure continuity.
  • Maintain IATA/DOT certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
