What you’ll do As part of the Open RAN Product Performance & Development team, you will play a key role in shaping how future mobile networks perform and evolve. You’ll contribute both technically and strategically, helping shape how Open RAN products are built, validated, and optimized across our multi-vendor environment. You will: • Translate network performance insights and business requirements into actionable product and system improvements • Support the design, validation, and rollout of Open RAN solutions — from lab to field • Collaborate closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure system interoperability, configuration quality, and deployment readiness • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to detect bottlenecks, trends, or deviations • Assist in the automation of routine tasks and performance workflows using programming skills • Provide structured input into project reviews, deep-dives, and vendor engagement meetings • Play an active role in technical forums — from field trials and PoCs to internal SteerCos and escalation loops • Continuously seek ways to improve how we measure, manage, and evolve the Open RAN ecosystem • Support the integration of AI/ML thinking into how we predict, prevent, and optimize network behavior • Prepare and update technical documentation, help translate feedback and results into action • Work closely with experienced team members to manage vendors, track progress, and escalate risks when needed • Continuously seeking ways to improve how we measure, manage, and evolve the Open RAN ecosystem Who you are Who You Are You are a driven and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for mobile networks and emerging technologies. You bring early career experience in telecom or product environments and are now ready to step into a role where you can own topics, influence design decisions, and contribute to Vodafone’s next-generation network evolution. What You Bring: • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Telecom, Electronics, Computer, or equivalent); Master’s preferred • 2+ years of experience in mobile network engineering, performance, operation or system integration • Knoweledge of 4G/5G radio architecture and basic understanding of Open RAN principles • Ability to analyze KPIs, support troubleshooting efforts, and translate findings into improvement actions • Interest in or exposure to AI/ML-based performance automation and software-driven network optimization • Proactive ownership of deliverables and readiness to manage technical follow-up with vendors and internal teams • Strong communication skills — confident presenting insights, coordinating tasks, and working across departments • Willingness to contribute to technical documentation, dashboards, and reporting cycles • Fluent in English and comfortable in multi-national, cross-functional environments • Flexibility to travel locally or internationally, depending on project needs (labs, field, vendor workshops) Bonus Skills (or Willing to Learn): • Understanding of radio network architecture (e.g. components, KPIs, system integration) • Interest or experience in software development, scripting, or AI/Machine Learning applications • A product-oriented mindset — you don’t just focus on how things work, but how they can be improved, automated, scaled, and made smarter We’re looking for someone who thrives on taking initiative, solving problems, and helping build the future of telecom — smarter, faster, and more open.
