The Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month promotion path (non-tenure track) faculty position. The individual in this position will be primarily responsible for teaching PharmD students but will also be expected to contribute to new knowledge through scholarship and provide service to the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, the University, and the greater High Point community. The estimated distribution of effort for this individual at program maturity (i.e., when a full faculty cohort is hired) will be 60-70% teaching, 20-30% service, and 10-15% scholarship. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants with areas of expertise/interest within the broad discipline of pharmaceutical sciences are welcome to apply. Areas of priority include physiology or pharmacology. Instructional duties may include both lecture or laboratory settings. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Pharm.D., M.D., or Ph.D. in pharmacology, physiology, toxicology, biochemistry, or related biomedical science field is required Experience and Training: Postdoctoral experience and strong academic credentials in areas of relevance to pharmacy, such as pharmacology or biochemistry is strongly preferred. Medical or pharmacy academic teaching experience is strongly preferred, and priority will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in one of these settings. Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others is required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop, coordinate, and teach content within the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy integrated curriculum as appointed by the Department Chair. Develop and offer an elective course that corresponds with expertise area(s) as needed. Utilize ExamSoft® or other software to conduct all School of Pharmacy assessments. Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Dean’s Office and Department Chair. Communicate teaching and scholarship activities through frequent and effective communication with the Department Chair. Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship in the individual’s field of study or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL). Integrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of scholarship, education, and service. Advance the service missions of the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy and High Point University to meet community needs. Act as a representative and advocate for the department, the school of pharmacy and the University. Actively participate in committees within the Department, School of Pharmacy, and University and participate in professional and governmental organizations as appointed by the Department Chair. Abide by University and School of Pharmacy policies. Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences.
