JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Psychiatry Adult Division Psychiatrist will provide 7-on/7-off clinical coverage of services at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO on the inpatient consultation-liaison (CL) psychiatry service. The inpatient CL position involves in-person work providing psychiatric consultation and management for patients currently admitted to the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus and may involve supervision of psychiatry, nurse practitioner, psychology, and social work trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and supervise psychiatric consultations/evaluations in inpatient medical settings and supervise ambulatory visits conducted by trainees.
- Participate in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assist in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.
- Actively contributes to academic advancement of his/her/their discipline.
- Maintains eligibility for SOM faculty appointment.
- Help with trainee education in both clinical and didactic settings.
- Participate in cross-covering/vacation coverage of other CL psychiatrists.
- Cover the CL service in a 7-on/7-off schedule (Monday – Sunday)
- Offers psychiatric recommendations to the consulting teams.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with partnering services in the clinical care and disposition planning of patients on inpatient medical services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to interpret age specific developmental, physiologic, and unique care needs by assessment and by observation of care delivery.
- Experience in making psychiatric diagnoses and managing psychiatric disorders.
- Experience working effectively on a psychiatric behavioral health team.
- Experience in telepsychiatry
- Experience in consultation-liaison and/or emergency psychiatry
- Completion of a consultation-liaison psychiatry fellowship
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Prior experience working with medically complex patients.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team model with colleagues, medical specialists, and trainees across disciplines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Interest in developing a collaborative program of research in specialty medical settings, although research interest is not required for this position.
- Epic Certification.
- Demonstrates culturally accountable mental health practices and values.
- Knows and or has knowledge and understands cultural differences.
