Description
At Jabil (NYSE: JBL), we are proud to be a trusted partner for the world's top brands, offering comprehensive engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions. With 60 years of experience across industries and a vast network of over 100 sites worldwide, Jabil combines global reach with local expertise to deliver both scalable and customized solutions. Our commitment extends beyond business success as we strive to build sustainable processes that minimize environmental impact and foster vibrant and diverse communities around the globe. About the Role We are seeking a Principal OpenBMC Engineer to serve as the technical authority for BMC firmware across our server platform portfolio. In this role, you will define the BMC architecture and technical roadmap, drive critical design decisions across multiple programs, and provide deep technical leadership to engineers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will be expected to operate as the most senior individual contributor in the BMC domain — setting technical direction, resolving the hardest cross-stack problems, and representing the company's BMC engineering capability to customers, partners, and the upstream community. Key Responsibilities Own the BMC firmware architecture across current and next-generation server platforms, including manageability stack, security, recovery flows, and lifecycle features. Define BMC technical strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with platform programs (e.g., Cicada TH5, Mantis TH6, and follow-on designs). Lead architectural reviews and make final technical calls on cross-cutting issues spanning BMC, BIOS, PRoT, SONiC, and hardware. Drive root-cause analysis on the most complex, escalated platform issues — across firmware, OS, hardware, and silicon boundaries. Establish engineering standards, coding practices, CI/CD pipelines, and quality bars for the BMC team. Mentor senior engineers and platform owners; grow the technical depth of the team through design reviews, code reviews, and structured knowledge transfer. Represent the company in customer technical reviews, ODM/OEM/silicon-vendor engagements, and (where applicable) the upstream OpenBMC community. Partner with engineering management on hiring, technical assessment, and organizational technical strategy.
