Description Summary The Forklift Operator in the Packing Department is responsible for safely moving finished aluminum products from the production area to packing workstations and loading shipments for delivery. This role plays a key part in ensuring that orders are packed accurately, handled with care, and shipped on time. Key Responsibilities Supply Packing Lines (60%) Transport finished aluminum from production to packing stations using a forklift. Safely handle large, wide, and easily damaged loads. Meet or exceed daily productivity goals. Shipping and Loading (40%) Load outbound trucks per written shipping instructions. Verify counts and ensure proper labeling of all shipments. Arrange loads based on delivery sequence (first in/last out). Secure and balance loads for safe transit. Maintain accurate shipping records. Equipment and Housekeeping Perform daily forklift inspections and cleaning. Keep work areas and outdoor wood storage neat and organized. Follow all plant safety rules and immediately report any hazards. Requirements Requirements Must have a valid driver’s license Certified forklift operator At least 3 years of experience operating forklifts, preferably handling large and wide loads Able to read shipping instructions in English and follow written directions Able to use a tape measure and perform basic counting Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed Personal protective equipment (PPE) required: hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, long pants, steel-toed shoes. Physical and Environmental Conditions Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and operate a forklift to move loads up to 100 pounds Work involves standing, walking, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift Exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, noise, fumes, and moving mechanical parts
