DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Manager, Mechanical Operations and Maintenance and/or leadership of the Lead Hand Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for the operations and maintenance in the building(s) assigned where a Fourth (4th) Class Operating Engineer Certificate is required either by law or due to the complexity of the operation and/or critical services provided for building environment and Faculty. The engineer is responsible for the safe and economical operation and maintenance of all mechanical and associated equipment and services in their area of responsibility.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience plus a Fourth (4th) Class Operating Engineer Certification valid in the Province of Ontario.
Experience: Must have a good working knowledge ofthe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including refrigeration, heating (e.g. boilers) and airhandling systems, and ability to comprehend and apply environmental control principles. Must have basic electrical knowledge. Basic proficiency in standard office computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows OS) and familiarity with computerized Building Automation Systems or other computerized control systems.
Other: Must have: good diagnostic and record keeping skills, the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and written), strong customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others. Building Environmental Systems Certificate an asset.
Shift Details: Regular 8 hour shifts, 40 hours per week. Must be available day, afternoon and night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
