We are currently seeking a 3rd Class Operating Engineer Or Class “B” Refrigeration with 4th class OE
JOB DESCRIPTION:
· Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer as directed, participates in the planning and organization of the power plant and ammonia refrigeration system maintenance work, carries out power plant repairs, air compressor maintenance, PM inspections, sprinkler system and the water tube Boilers.
· Maintain power plant systems for the safe and efficient delivery of high-pressure steam, ammonia, compressed air, and Hydraulic.
· Must have a good working knowledge of all of the following: electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatic control systems, industrial piping systems, pumps/gearboxes, ammonia refrigeration, safety valves,
· Mechanical maintenance procedures, blueprint reading, and preventative/predictive maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· This job requires an Ontario Provincial TSSA Class B with 4th class OE or 3rd Class OE license in order to work in the Ammonia room
· Mechanical trade: Licensed Millwright in Ontario with experience working in the food industry considered an asset.
· Solid Mechanical aptitude.
· Must be able to communicate, orally and written, effectively.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment.
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot power plant ancillary equipment necessary for the continuous supply of high-pressure steam, compressed air, and compressed ammonia refrigerant to Production/Processing Equipment. Must work in accordance with TSSA OE Regulations 219-01, Operating Engineers Regulations.
· Familiar with TSSA Pressure Vessel Regulation 220-01, CSA B-51 CSA B-52 Standards.
· Maintain boiler water treatment and RO/softener systems.
· Perform valve maintenance as required, including gasket and packing replacement and packing adjustment.
· Perform repairs and overhauls as required to pumps, gearboxes, air compressors, and refrigeration, heating, and ventilation units, and Milk Pasteurizing Equipment controls
· Perform and assist as required in the maintenance department equipment, pneumatic controls, and electric/electronic controls.
· Fire Alarm panel and Fire Suppression Sprinkler System. Be familiar with operation and reporting requirements.
· Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks (PM program) as directed.
· Order and maintaining inventory requirements for maintenance and chemicals inventories for the Power Plant.
· Use common hand tools, power tools (pipe-threading machines, hand grinders, saws, impact wrenches, drill presses, hydraulic pullers, etc.), and rigging equipment.
· Perform welding, using an oxy-acetylene torch as required.
· Work without direct supervision on daily assigned work.
· Maintain adherence to the published work schedule and be available to work overtime as required by demands of the job.
· Work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc. utilizing fall protection equipment when required by the job
· Carry pager for “on call” response to emergency and trouble-calls.
· Maintain communication with supervisor regarding unresolved work issues,
