Responsibilities

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Responsible for supporting, maintaining and optimizing operations of the facility and processing equipment
  • Responsible for the safe, reliable, efficient operation and maintenance of the chillers, boilers, and water distribution systems in accordance with the TSSA
  • Assist with capital and maintenance projects
  • Comply with all Plant GMP and Health and Safety Policies & Procedures
  • Repair and maintain chillers, boilers, HVAC and auxiliary equipment
  • Support and optimize operations of the processing equipment including extraction and concentration
  • Carry out preventative maintenance program
  • Investigation and repairs of any issues with refrigeration, air quality, humidity or temperature
  • Performance of tests and preparation of reports as required by the company and TSSA guidelines
  • Samples, analyzes and adjusts water treatment chemicals and water levels
  • Frequent inspections of equipment and logging data to identify trends, calculate efficiency and monitor consumption
  • Lead communication with and supervision of contractors to ensure safety adherence
  • Provide technical expertise and support to production management
  • Assist the Maintenance and Engineering team with projects and equipment upgrades
  • Escalating critical issues to Supervisors and Management
  • Leading communication amongst team members through such actions as shift hand over meetings and shift reports
  • Assist in maintaining safe plant operations in a mechanically sound condition meeting all federal, provincial and municipal guidelines
  • Maintain and update a plant logbook in accordance with TSSA guidelines (O. Reg. 219/01 Section 37)
  • Ensure compliance with all company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • MUST have 3rd Class Operating Engineer license or equivalent in good standing with TSSA
  • 3-5 years of relative experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in maintaining and reassembling key components in a processing facility including pumps, heat exchangers, water treatment equipment and steam and process valves
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC and auxiliary equipment
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with and understand electrical systems, programs and drawings
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA systems and troubleshooting them
  • Strong team player with ability to coordinate with other departments and contractors
  • Able to take direction, both verbal and written, and communicate effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting capabilities
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to work flexible hours (overtime, periodic weekends and/or other shifts as required)
  • Shows initiative, takes directions and executes plans efficiently
