This job provides technical support services, assists with the delivery of patient care by functioning as a member of the surgical team, transports patients, runs errands, relays messages, and assists with patient care and room turnover.

EDUCATION

Required - High School diploma or equivalent.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required - Experience functioning calmly in a pressure situation and experience working with little supervision.
Preferred - 6 months patient care experience, operating room experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to use good judgement and handle difficult situations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to function calmly in a pressure situation.
  • Ability to move throughout department and facility.
Responsibilities
  • Performs indirect patient care duties.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment in patient care and support surgical areas.
  • Performs direct patient care duties.
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
  • Adapts to rapid day-to-day changes in the department / unit.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
