Description POSITION TITLE: Operating Room RN (OR & PACU) Department: Surgery/Nursing Reports to: Operating Room Supervisor, Chief Nursing Officer Mission of Department: To protect the well-being of our patients. Purpose of Position: Provides circulating and/or scrub nurse services in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists surgical team as needed in other capacity, according to established procedures. Ability to do PACU/pre-op/post-op duties. Some clinical work on an as needed basis. Essential Functions: To work as scheduled with other RN’s. Take surgery call as scheduled, includes holidays & weekends. Must be within 20 minutes of the hospital when on call. Hours and days are subject to change. Cover OR positions as team and scheduling necessitates, Circulating and/or Pre-op/Post-op duties: -admit and/or discharge patient to or from the surgical department -provide care/assistance during the surgical procedure -work with physicians, surgical technicians, CRNA’s and other team members to provide care/safety to patients -documentation of procedural care -monitor medical condition of patient throughout surgical process and report changes to appropriate personnel The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned in this job classification. One year experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferred. A current license as a Registered Nurse. Attend CEU’s as necessary to maintain and broaden skills. Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Kansas or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing. American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required or must complete BLS certification within one month of employment. ACLS and PALS certification is required and must be completed within 6 months of employment. TNCC and NRP certification is preferred. Expectation of Service: This is a full-time position. Regular and punctual attendance is required. Physical Requirements: Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Daily lifts/positions/transfers patients, with assistance, of weights up to and occasionally in excess of 200 lbs. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Motor coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to carry out procedures as outlined.
