OPERATIONAL SR. ACCOUNTANT- (CONTRACT) 1 YEAR MATERNITY COVERAGE

Job Summary: This role will be responsible for full cycle accounting for Tier 1 Energy Solutions and its subsidiaries with a focus on operational accounting. Tier 1 is a fast-paced growth-oriented organization, and we are looking for an individual who thrives in that type of environment and is keen to learn. This role will report to the Senior Operational Controller.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will support Tier 1’s financial operations in accounting, reporting, forecasting, compliance, and process improvement. You will manage day-to-day accounting functions, monthly financial reporting (for our operations, executives, etc.), provide insights into financial performance, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have operational accounting experience, however, will also be knowledgeable about all areas of accounting and finance. Oil and gas services experience is a bonus, however, not required. Any US tax experience is deemed an asset. In 2025, Tier 1 plans to focus on implementing new ERP systems and other supporting initiatives so, outside of month end and work with operations, this role will focus heavily on these projects.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Degree in commerce or equivalent and working towards or nearing completion of CPA designation and/or equivalent experience in the industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Results from a pre-employment test must be deemed acceptable in accordance with Tier 1’s policies;
  • Results from a background check must be deemed acceptable in accordance with Tier 1’s guidelines;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to all Tier 1 Energy Solutions (Tier 1) policies and procedures, furthermore, understand and adhere to any client’s policies and procedures.
  • Month end journal entries.
  • Responsible for the development and presentation of monthly Divisional Financial Statements
  • Day-to-day work with operational leaders to drive forecasting and further knowledge of the monthly financials.
  • Balance sheet reconciliation and working paper maintenance.
  • Reconciliation of payroll entries and other income statement accounts
  • Intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • US sales tax preparation and regulatory work.
  • Provides support for annual audits.
  • Develop and/or implement new accounting standards, policies and procedures, processes, systems, and internal control measures, and manage change effectively.
  • Backup accounting support for our other divisional Senior Accountants and Senior Controller.
  • Contribute to finance transformation projects, including technological advancements, system implementations, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting, and controls.
  • Potential for IFRS related working papers and experience.
