OPERATIONAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT

  • Friendly, supportive team environment with varied day-to-day tasks
  • Opportunity to gain experience across multiple departments including underwriting, claims, and facilities
  • Hybrid role with 60% homeworking and 40% in Bristol

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who’s organised, reliable, and enjoys being at the heart of a busy team. You’ll be confident managing a variety of tasks—from greeting visitors at reception to supporting colleagues with important admin work. You’ll take pride in delivering a great service, whether that’s responding to a query, keeping systems up to date, or making sure the post gets where it needs to go.
You’ll be someone who brings a positive, can-do attitude to work and is comfortable juggling priorities while staying calm under pressure. You’ll enjoy working with others and playing your part in a collaborative, supportive environment.

We’re looking for:

  • Experience providing operational support (insurance experience is desirable)
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisation and time management
  • A keen eye for detail to keep things running smoothly
  • A customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • A team player who’s always happy to lend a hand

At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.
We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.
We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a confident and organised Administrator to join our friendly team in Bristol on a fixed-term basis. This is a varied hybrid role that combines front-of-house reception duties with vital administrative support to our Underwriting and Operations teams. Working two days a week in the office, you’ll be the first point of contact for visitors and contractors, helping us create a welcoming and professional environment while ensuring the smooth running of our daily office operations.
When you’re not managing reception, you’ll play a key part in supporting our internal teams with a wide range of administrative tasks. These may include processing No Claims Discount requests, logging surveys, and handling documentation within our internal systems such as Policy Centre and iFaces. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Underwriting, Loss Control, Commercial, and Claims, helping to keep things running efficiently behind the scenes.
This is a great opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative environment where no two days are the same. Whether you’re greeting visitors, handling post and supplies, or assisting with key admin processes, you’ll play a central role in supporting the Regional Service Centre and making a real difference to our day-to-day operations.
This role is based in our Regional Service Centre in Bristol. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 60% of your hours from home.
