THE SITE

Tallawarra is one of Australia’s most environmentally efficient, large-scale gas-fired power stations. It comprises a combined cycle and open cycle gas-fired station with fast-start capability, producing less carbon emissions than conventional coal-fired power stations. The station’s generation capacity is Tallawarra A at 440 MW and Tallawarra B at 320 MW - which is enough power to supply up to 350,000 homes. This is an active power station, located just south of Wollongong, NSW.
Please note: This role will also support our Hallett Power Station in South Australia.

THE PERMANENT OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE

We’re seeking a skilled Operational Technology (Controls Systems) Engineer to join our team and ensure best-in-class plant automation while addressing current and future cybersecurity threats.
As such, this role will have a broad focus across Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Operational Technology. The role will be based at Tallawarra Power Station, however occasional travel to Hallett Power Station in South Australia will be required to support the asset.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing asset management strategies and providing expert technical advice and engineering support concerning electrical, control systems and cyber security at Tallawarra Power Station. You will support sustaining a risk reduction and uplift in OT systems and processes in accordance with our OT Cyber Security Policy and Standard, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act.

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Process Control) or equivalent, coupled with demonstrated relevant heavy-industrial experience. OT Cybersecurity certifications are desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience in one or more or industrial control system (DCS, SIS, PLC, SCADA etc.), operational technologies (OT) (LAN and WAN networking infrastructure, virtualisation, servers, Workstations), and industrial cyber security (compliance, assurance, vulnerability management, security architecture, threat hunting, forensics).
  • Engineers Australia accredited Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), or soon-to-be eligible for CPEng.
  • Experience with equipment such as Generator, Generator Circuit Breaker, Transformers, HV and LV Switchboards, HV and LV Motors, electrical protection and compliance, and miscellaneous power and lighting, DCS, PLC’s, Alarm Systems, Instrumentation and Data Archive Systems.
  • Good knowledge and experience with industrial process controls and OT systems across asset-intensive operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience relating to design and configuration, plant process controls / automation, industrial networking of OT in heavy industry settings
  • Working knowledge of the Australian Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act as it relates to OT systems in the electricity energy sector.
