DESCRIPTION

Jersey Post is seeking a proactive and skilled Operational Technology Specialist to play a vital role in the ongoing success of our on-island sorting and delivery operations.
In this role, you will work closely with operational managers, the engineering team, ICT colleagues, and external suppliers to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the systems and equipment that underpin our local logistics services. Your work will be essential in maintaining high standards of service delivery and operational efficiency.
This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to join a collaborative team in a role that combines operational support with strategic input. If you are technically proficient, solutions-focused, and eager to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

A good candidate must have:

  • Proficiency in SQL databases, data extraction, and analysis.
  • A working knowledge of electronics, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with web-based APIs (SOAP, REST) and how they support system integration.
  • A strong understanding of computer networking principles, such as TCP/IP and VPNs.
  • The ability to design and execute effective system testing plans.
  • Experience writing detailed technical specifications and managing suppliers to deliver enhancements on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems, including their deployment and ongoing support.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • You’ve dabbled in (or mastered!) C++, .NET, or PHP – and you enjoy bringing ideas to life with code.
  • You’ve been part of developing and supporting web applications and know what it takes to keep users happy and systems running.
