Description

The Operational Training Instructor will play a key role in building a confident, competent and flexible workforce by delivering consistent, hands-on, and role-specific training to shop floor colleagues. This role strengthens our operational capability, supports faster onboarding, and reinforces safety and compliance through daily presence and coaching.

CAPABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment (ideally plastics or similar)
  • A natural ability to support, coach, and encourage others, even it not formally trained. (Coaching training will be provided)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of English Language ability
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and people development
  • Organised and reliable with ability to track progress and follow up on development
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor in a hands-on practical role
  • Willingness to learn internal systems (e.g. Workday, Adapt etc) training will be given

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a training, coaching, or mentoring role (but not essential – full training will be given)
  • Knowledge of health and safety and manual handling best practice
  • Understanding of different learning styles
  • Experience working with multilingual teams
  • Experience using digital learning platforms such as Adapt and Workday
Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-the-job training across operational departments, ensuring clarity, consistency, and confidence in task execution.
  • Support new starters through tailored onboarding, practical instruction, and real-time feedback.
  • Provide clear, visual, and repeated instruction where language may be a barrier.
  • Reinforce safety and compliance behaviours, including manual handling and health & safety protocols.
  • Create and maintain a live training matrix and individual development trackers.
  • Update workday with accurate training records to ensure real-time visibility of progress & compliance. (Training will be provided)
  • Create structured learning content within the adapt platform, aligned with operational needs.(Training will be provided)
  • Facilitate cross-training to support greater flexibility and resilience in resourcing.
  • Identify training gaps and work collaboratively with line managers to address skill needs.
  • Offer ongoing support, encouragement and constructive feedback to help individuals grow.
  • Role models Trademark behaviours with professionalism and approachability.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by enabling team members to develop capability and confidence.
