Responsibilities

We have exciting opportunities for Operations and Planning Engineers to join SSEN Transmission in the Control Centre in Perth.
The team is responsible for ensuring programmes of planned operational and outage work have been coordinated with key internal and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining acceptable levels of network security, and supporting the GB Electricity System Operator (NESO) in reducing operational constraint costs. The role supports the delivery of strategic reinforcement projects and connections, including new High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, FACTS devices, and large offshore windfarm connections.
We have opportunities in two distinctive planning periods – Current Year Planning and Future-Year Planning. Our Current-Year Planning Engineer would be responsible for the current working year, working in close collaboration with the Control Room Engineers. Our Future-Years Planning Engineer would be responsible for 1 to 10 years ahead, working with stakeholders across the wider Business to coordinate and prepare all future years’ programmes.
