Job Introduction
This role is an Internal Grey Book role with a salary of a Station Commander, based on a 42 hour working week.
We are thrilled to be hiring a new Operational Assets Manager to join our fantastic Logistics team within the Fire and Rescue Service. The team is based in Wray Park but we promote a hybrid approach to working, meeting collaboratively when required. We are proud of our strong focus on development and our excellent track record of promoting internally.

Responsibilities

As an Operational Assets Manager, you will lead on the strategy, planning, implementation and ongoing management of operational assets for the Fire and Rescue Service. This is a 2-year secondment to manage the inception, specification, delivery, communication, and documentation for operational asset projects as part of the Capital Programme. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the delivery of asset projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to coordinate project activities, manage risks, and resolve issues.
  • Ensuring crews are fully trained and have access to all necessary documentation to effectively use new equipment.
  • Managing budgets for asset projects, typically ranging from £1m to £6m per annum, ensuring compliance with relevant financial and procurement guidelines.
  • Leading the production of risk assessments, training materials, and operational documentation to support safe and effective asset use.
  • Supporting the transition of projects from implementation to business as usual (BAU) in collaboration with various stakeholders.
