ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia’s largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
About the role
Are you ready to be part of an exciting new venture? The Queensland Government is supporting Circular Economy infrastructure by funding Salvos Stores to establish Australia’s first textile sorting and decommissioning plant at Carole Park, QLD. This facility will sort textiles, remove buttons and zippers, and customise end products for textile recycling and helping to close the loop on circularity. This initiative, aptly named Salvos Boomerang, aims to reduce textile waste in landfills, promote a circular economy, and raise awareness of the environmental impact of textiles.
As an Operations Assistant, this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Salvos Boomerang facility. This position involves operating and maintaining machinery, managing inventory, and supporting production processes to optimize textile sorting, processing, and recycling operations.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a max-term, position offering full-time hours until August, 2027.
