OPERATIONS CLERK BASILDON BASED FREIGHT FORWARDER

This role would suit someone with a reasonable degree of experience, predominantly in sea freight area of the forwarding industry, as our business is 90% sea freight and the remaining 10% is split between European road freight and air freight.
Most of that sea freight business is FCL with exports accounting for 65% of it. Duties will include the taking of bookings, proof-reading supplier documents, production of Bills of Lading, customs declarations, arranging transport, and require client and supplier contact.
In addition to the operational duties, having contacts within the industry would be a benefit, as would negotiation skills but this is not essential. Dependent upon aptitude, there may be the opportunity to progress into other areas of the business and then into a supervisory role.
The right candidate will be an effective communicator both on the phone and in writing, be articulate, well organised and able to prioritise, effectively. Salary subject to age and experience and will be discussed towards the end of an initial conversation.
