TITLE: Sr. Data Solutions Analyst
STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Mgr - Service Operations and Data Solutions
DEPARTMENT: Account Services Admin

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Data Solutions Analyst will provide data-driven technical guidance by serving as subject matter expert to operations processes while working within our data warehouse to ensure exceptional member service. The core function of the analyst will be efficient and higher-level exploratory data analysis to present custom and visually appealing data-driven insights targeted at efficiency, discernment, and cost avoidance. This role will work independently, and at time proactively, on progressively complex, high impact, and high visibility business projects by presenting predictive options as well as prescriptive actions to everyone from front-line associates to senior executives. This position requires proven aptitude, exhibited attention to detail, effective cross-discipline collaboration, and with a skillset focus on continued knowledge discovery via the data warehouse.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to assist other staff, constructively follow-up on member inquiries, communicate clearly with management, and perform other related tasks.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.

QUALIFICATIONS:1. EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with a data-centric curriculum preferred (Math, Computer Science, Statistics, etc.)

2. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum (BS 5-8, MS 3-6) years of hands-on experience and/or demonstrable attitude/aptitude/technical equivalent.

3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

  • Candidates must pass intermediate programming technical assessment of candidate’s choice.
  • Must pass Microsoft Excel technical assessment.
  • Thrives when multitasking and works best in a dynamic environment with high visibility projects and timelines with varying urgency and ownership deadlines.
  • Naturally inquisitive with an innate patience and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates reliable and on-time attendance within a hybrid work environment.
  • Passion for creating appealing visualizations within the Microsoft suite of products that drive home the results of your analysis.
  • Communicates in a clear, concise, and timely manner and operates effectively as a team player.
  • Committed to self-directed, on the job technical skill progression with assistance from and within a community of Data Analysts that are all working in a rapidly evolving field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of BI concepts and proven success in working with different technology (including new software tools and systems implementations) and able to learn, set up and champion new and best-in-class approaches.
  • Experience in building best practices and influencing BI system and data architecture to allow for, build or optimize key data correlations within and across business functions.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.

  3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrated mastery of big data and KPI’s while holding oneself and others accountable to Golden 1 principles of member commitment to service excellence
  2. Attained reliability, efficiency, independence, and trustworthiness of analytics output that no longer requires deliberate managerial oversight.
  3. Augment core data exploration skillset with additional techniques such as data programming languages, mining strategies, modeling approaches, or machine learning processes in furtherance of Golden 1 data culture and in line with the broader data industry
  4. Utilizes technical skillset to not just build and create, but constantly automate and streamline via utilization of Power BI, R scripting, Power Automate, or other processes.
  5. Producing holistic single-department productivity metrics and capacity models to monitor and forecast people and processes in support of our ongoing commitment to operational efficiency and member experience.
  6. Earns access to, and gains an understanding of, additional source data repositories and domain knowledge as needed to supplement that which is housed in our Enterprise Data Warehouse
  7. Supports and develops analytical and/or statistical models and scenario-building as needed to support effective business decision-making.
  8. Builds and nurtures cross-functional relationships and thinks critically about people, process, and technology to identify areas for streamlining and improvement.
  9. Effectively employs warehouse data validation concepts not just between domains such as General Ledger and Retail data, but also within one system to bolster analytical credibility.
  10. Identifies and solves for not only the business matter at hand, but also teases out unasked-for quantitative patterns and data relationships to further business intelligence or apply to a broader
  11. Have innate understanding of Golden 1 warehousing concepts and schema design to efficiently write, maintain, and deploy custom T-SQL scripts primarily, but not exclusively, via Microsoft SSMS
  12. Develop and curate custom data sets for inspired and poignant Power BI data visualizations that are effective at every level of the organization.
  13. Embody and promote integrity of the Golden 1 data governance strategy, partner with our IT and Data Warehouse teams to provide research and support at each level of the ETL process.
