POSITION SUMMARY

Provide technical expertise maintaining and generating new CAD/SolidWorks drawings for tooling and equipment used in manufacturing working with Maintenance, Facilities and Engineering teams in Redwood City. Must have familiarity of metals/materials used in manufacturing industries, skill and familiarity to research and work with local fabricators on pricing/detail, creation of proto-types, refurbishing of damaged parts and ordering of new parts for the site. Must be proficient working in a fast paced changing work environment helping identify and drive solutions for our site and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineering background or degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years supporting and working in manufacturing preferred
  • Computer experience with CAD, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet. Solid Works experience a plus
  • Experience building and re-sizing existing plants a plus
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, assembly and testing instructions
  • Knowledge of electrical principles, National Electric Code and UL a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment

Order Monthly Tooling Requirements as needed.

  • Measure and verify tooling meets drawing specs prior to issuing parts to TPM
  • Verify tolerance
Responsibilities

Maintain and Generate New Tooling Drawings

  • Covert current CAD models to SolidWorks
  • Use of Excel (Tooling drawings, reconditioning, orders)

Order Monthly Tooling Requirements as needed.

  • Measure and verify tooling meets drawing specs prior to issuing parts to TPM
  • Verify tolerances

Design/Document/Machine New Tooling.

  • Research or work with fabricators on pricing/detail
  • Review drawings
  • Modify existing equipment working with Eng. R&D,TPM
  • Knowledge of metals/materials used in our business (required)

Recondition/Repair, Machine/Fabricate Manufacturing Equipment related parts.

  • Damaged tips/dies/cross-feeds/shafts/screws etc.
  • Good communication skills and relationships with site personnel and repair shops when expediting is needed
  • Able to work with plant and outside resources to modify and adapt existing equipment to process needs

Support TPM on their Maintenance Projects. (Fabricate/Machine Parts)

  • Project management skills and engagement helping team achieve milestones
  • Re-engineer new equipment to meet our internal needs as needed

Prepare new Equipment layout for TPM for installation

  • Create equipment layout drawing for installation
  • Measuring footprint and adding equipment in footprint
  • Holding drawing meetings with project teams
  • Follow up with fabricators and vendors meeting equipment timelines

Administrative

  • Generate SolidWorks models and drawings as needed
  • Working with TPM on equipment modifications that require design drawings
  • Redline drawing that need updating and processing obsoletions
  • Phone communication with vendors and plant personnel on equipment
  • Work on SMED opportunities for quick changeover
  • Work with engineering on design of new tooling and create drawings for proto-types
  • Work on tooling with China plants
  • Create PO’s for purchase of parts
