Description

Objectives

  • To support the review and improvement of site processes, facilities and equipment from an Operations Engineering perspective whilst adhering to site defined safety and environmental controls and regulations.
  • A key member of the site team who will first assess and then implement plant, process and procedural improvements through recommendation, team working, capital investment programme progression and effective project management.
  • In all instances the Operations Engineer will support the Site Manager in the delivery of process control improvements aimed at reducing both site risks and operational costs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To schedule and monitor facility-related Engineering activities including all aspects of the company’s Asset Integrity Process Safety Management (AIPSM) programme.
  • To manage related contractors whilst on site and to verify and sign off on supplied levels of service support and quality of work.
  • To progress single or multiple projects from inception through to Capex business case justification and, once approved, to then plan, organise and manage resources to complete the same on time and to budget.
  • To work with the site Maintenance and Operations teams ensuring the timely scheduling and progression of Capex, maintenance and other repair related activities.
  • To support site QSHE activities and to help prepare and document any related incident reports especially where risks can be quantified and subsequently engineered out of a process or situation.
  • To appreciate current working practises whilst considering how best to bring forward fresh, innovative ideas for Plant and Process Improvement/Automation.
  • To analyse and create relevant reports, as required/requested, relating to workflow optimisation and process issues/efficiencies.

Required Skills

  • To be able to work and interact with others, lead small teams, listen and yet be able to take the reins when required to guide and ensure timely decision making.
  • To be confident enough to build and manage relationships with suppliers and site supporting service providers for defined planned maintenance and/or check and inspection activities.
  • To be able to assess and analyse issues and opportunities and then develop solutions that will contribute towards improvements in site operational efficiencies i.e. throughput, movement, stock holding, safety, risk and cost reduction.
  • To demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and experience in the driving and effective management of change under various circumstances.
