JOB DESCRIPTION
Develops, designs, evaluates, and/or modifies systems consistent with customer and regulatory requirements. Develops system architecture, and ensures the integrity of the architecture/design.
- Overall technical operation, support, security, and maintenance of the P25 system, subsystems, and applications for the Tasmanian Government Radio Network (TASGRN) relied on by multiple Tasmanian organisations including emergency services organisations.
- Act as a technical escalation point for customer Network Operations Control Centre (NOCC) staff and Field Engineers requiring technical support.
- Participate in a shared 24/7/365 rotating on-call roster that may require attendance at customer sites outside of business hours and at short notice to resolve urgent incidents.
- Work within the customer-defined change control process to perform planned maintenance activities which may include planned outside of business hours work such as system updates or configuration changes.
- Escalate any operational or customer-impacting issues to engage further engineering support from Motorola internally or from other third-party vendors as required.
- Work within the customer-provided service management tool to accurately log and provide updates on all work completed.
- Produce and/or update technical and procedural documentation for supported systems.
- Ensure supported system installation and configuration is in accordance with documented configurations.
- Provide ad-hoc general support and training to Motorola stakeholders from time-to-time.
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other applicable management staff.
- Provides short and long-term in-depth analysis and investigation of problems.
- Work with System Integration teams from time-to-time for assistance with project-based activities, as approved by direct line management.
- When required, provide technical representation from the Operations Engineering team to senior management and the customer.
- Produce reports relating to contractual key performance indicators and service level agreements.
- Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of radio and application network.
- Update Windows, Linux servers and other network devices as required.
- Manage and apply updated endpoint security definitions and configurations.
- Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement within the organisation.
- Provide guidance and technical mentorship for junior staff members.
- Undertake special projects and other duties as required by the organisation.
