Conditions and Environment: The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment; at times, many staff members may be present and speaking simultaneously. Working environment will include Indoor/outdoor work with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals with proper PPE, occasional irregular hours for emergencies.

PURPOSE
Based at Facilities Warehouse, this position manages and coordinates the District’s environmental quality programs, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Water Quality, and serving as AHERA (asbestos) liaison/compliance coordinator—to ensure safe, compliant learning environments across all campuses. The role also leads the district-wide furniture request process (intake, standards, procurement, installation, and surplus) and manages ADA compliance initiatives, ensuring all district facilities meet accessibility requirements. The Operations Environmental Specialist is required to earn and maintain ADA Certification within the first six months of employment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
District Furniture Request Process – Standards & Logistics: Operate a central intake and approval process; apply standards (ergonomics/ADA) and life-cycle value; scope and procure; coordinate delivery/installation and punch list with Purchasing, Facilities, Custodial, and sites; manage moves/recon figs, asset tagging, inventory, surplus, and budget tracking.
Environmental Quality Programs: Coordinate IPM, IAQ, and water quality programs; serve as AHERA liaison (AMP records, notifications, awareness training, abatement monitoring); manage hazardous/universal waste handling and audit documentation; ensure federal/state/local compliance.
ADA Compliance: Manage and monitor ADA compliance across all district facilities; ensure facilities meet accessibility standards; coordinate with building leaders and project managers to address deficiencies; maintain documentation and reporting; earn and maintain ADA Certification within the first six months of employment.
Safety Meetings & Training: Lead safety meetings at the Facilities Warehouse for all Facilities & Construction staff; maintain agendas, attendance, and action items; coordinate OSHA/PPE refreshers, SDS/hazard communication, and seasonal topics.
Data, CMMS, and Reporting: Prioritize/close work in the CMMS; maintain accurate fleet/furniture/environmental data; issue concise monthly KPI reports and board-ready summaries.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.
