Description The Operations Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating both process operations and maintenance activities within the processing plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning (SX/EW). This role provides frontline leadership to operators, maintenance personnel, and technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. The Operations Foreman drives production results while maintaining equipment reliability through close coordination of operations and maintenance functions. Safety and Environmental Compliance Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety across both operations and maintenance teams. Ensure compliance with all MSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Lead safety meetings, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation. 2. Production Planning and Execution Coordinate daily production activities to achieve throughput, recovery, and cost targets. Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Metallurgical team on production plans and KPIs. Monitor plant performance and adjust operations to meet production goals. 3. Maintenance Coordination and Equipment Reliability Direct and coordinate daily maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance. Work closely with maintenance personnel to prioritize and schedule work to minimize downtime. Ensure effective tracking of work orders, maintenance history, and equipment performance. Support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and process-related equipment issues. 4. Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement Partner with metallurgical and engineering teams to improve recovery, throughput, and efficiency. Identify operational and maintenance improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Support implementation of best practices, including Lean principles and 5S standards. 5. Team Leadership and Development Supervise and lead a cross-functional team of operators, maintenance technicians, and electricians. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure team effectiveness and development. Promote accountability, teamwork, and adherence to standard operating procedures. 6. Quality Control and Operational Excellence Ensure product quality meets specifications through proper process control and monitoring. Conduct regular inspections and audits (e.g., Site Docs) to identify issues and drive corrective actions. Maintain accurate shift reports, production data, and maintenance records. Competencies 1. Work Environment This position operates in a combination of office and active mining/process plant environments. The employee will be exposed to operating equipment, high noise levels, dust, chemicals, slurry, and varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Proper use of PPE is required at all times. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and work hours/days typically 8 days on, 6 days off, or similar rotation, and 10-hour shifts. 7:00 am to 5 pm. Occasional overtime may be required due to operational need. Travel Travel is not expected but may occasionally occur for educational/career development purposes. Requirements Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent 5+ years of experience in mineral processing, or heavy industrial operations 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in mineral processing Strong working knowledge of: - Crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, and SX/EW processes - Mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance practices Experience coordinating operations and maintenance activities in a plant environment Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental compliance Proficiency with CMMS and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office) Preferred Education and Experience Technical certification, trade background, or degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, or related field 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in maintenance Experience with integrated operations/maintenance leadership roles Familiarity with PLCs, DCS systems, and instrumentation MSHA training and prior mining experience
