Company Description Within the framework of a major offshore FPSO development project, IOTA GROUP is seeking an Operations Geologist to support subsurface geological activities throughout the well lifecycle. The role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and optimized geological operations, in compliance with company standards and local regulatory requirements. Based in Suriname, this office-based consulting assignment offers direct involvement with project operations. The contract is scheduled to start in September 2026 for an initial duration of 12 months and follows a 4-weeks-on / 4-weeks-off rotation, with 8-hour working days, 7 days per week, under a Contractor agreement. Job Description 🔹 1. HSE & Operational Safety Contribute to HSE performance in subsurface geological operations Monitor: pore & fracture pressures temperature conditions real-time geological parameters during drilling Ensure safe execution of geological data acquisition activities 🔹 2. Well Preparation (Pre-Well Phase) Act as a key contributor to: 3W (Well on Paper) WSOR (Well Start of Operations Review) processes Integrate learnings from: offset well post-mortems pore pressure and fracture gradient studies shallow hazards and drill site assessments Propose optimized data acquisition programs, balancing: safety cost operational efficiency Support preparation of drilling budgets and procurement of services Provide technical recommendations to engineering and management teams 🔹 3. Well Execution Phase Coordinate and support wellsite geological teams Supervise execution of geological data acquisition programs Ensure: contractual compliance quality and reliability of acquired data Challenge and optimize: acquisition methods associated costs Implement real-time monitoring solutions for collaborative decision-making Report operational status to: Subsurface Exploration Asset teams Coordinate with petrophysics teams for data interpretation 🔹 4. Post-Well Activities Manage: rock and fluid samples (dispatch, analysis, storage) Ensure: data recovery and proper archiving completion of final well reports Follow up with service companies on: performance cost control Ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements 🔹 5. Stakeholder & Interface Management Act as the main operational interface between: Subsurface teams Asset teams Drilling and HSE teams Interact with: data acquisition contractors local suppliers regulatory authorities Participate in technical meetings, workshops, and decision forums 🔹 6. Continuous Improvement & Optimization Contribute to: well performance optimization cost reduction initiatives Promote knowledge sharing across regions and projects Support development of operational best practices Qualifications Education Minimum of BSc Hons Degree in Geology Experience 10-12 years of experience in operations geology within Oil & Gas, ideally offshore Proven track record in: drilling support real-time operations well data interpretation Experience on FPSO or deepwater projects is a strong advantage Have significant Subsurface operations experience (minimum 5 years) (WSG, Op geologist, Head Subsurface, Petrophysical analysis) Technical Skills Strong understanding of: pore pressure & fracture gradient analysis wellsite geological operations data acquisition methods (mud logging, LWD, coring, etc.) Experience with: real-time monitoring tools geological interpretation workflows Knowledge of drilling operations and subsurface integration Soft Skills Strong analytical and decision-making skills Ability to work in high-pressure operational environments Excellent communication and coordination abilities Proactive and solution-oriented mindset Ability to work in multicultural and international environments
