Job Description:
The UK & Lloyd’s Chief Operating Officer is responsible for leading, managing, and controlling the strategy and execution of all operational activities impacting UK region. The role of Operations, Governance and Compliance Officer will be reporting into Chief of Staff, COO UK & Lloyd’s to help the function achieve its 4 key objectives of: Keeping the business safe, keeping the lights on, Business/Market Transformation, and Innovation.
Working closely with the COO and COO LT, this role will be responsible for supporting the reporting, compliance and governance of the COO activities including project governance responsibility, committee secretarial management and board reporting. Notably this role will provide essential project and governance support the Delegated Authority Service Centre Director with the Delegated Oversight Review.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience in Compliance and understanding of SMF responsibilities and requirements.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory framework including, PRA, FCA and Lloyd’s requirements with a focus on Consumer Duty.
  • Ability to execute and deliver results across an extensive range of priorities, allied to a proactive approach, anticipating needs.
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting needs, progress matters expeditiously and follow through on projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent minute writing skills, preferably gained within financial services.
  • Interpersonal Communication: excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work self-directed and on own initiative whilst being part of a wider team.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Prior experience of the Lloyd’s market desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Project Governance and Management
  • Driving governance and project oversight for the Delegated Authority Review project amongst other regulatory initiatives within the COO’s responsibility.
  • Stakeholder management amongst workstreams, actions owners and UK leadership escalation
  • Project Steering Committees, workstreams and action management.
  • Project reporting documentation capturing and reporting progress, key risks and implications, escalation management
  • Board, Quarterly Business Review and Committees
  • Assisting with the provision of company secretarial support to the Boards, Board Committees and other key executive committees of the UK regulated entities relevant to COO
  • Supporting the collection, collation, and distribution of COO board and committee papers.
  • Organising and attending meetings, maintaining annual planners of key items for consideration, preparing minutes and tracking action points.
  • Tracking, reporting and oversight of IA actions applicable to the COO, UK & Lloyd’s.
  • Compliance
  • Working with the Compliance function on COO regulatory responsibilities including Lloyd’s principles of doing business and managing changes and updates to regulation that impact the COO.
  • Supporting the COO comply with the XLICSE UK branch and XLCSSE UK branch regulatory requirements
  • Support the COO’s management of regulatory relationships e.g. FCA, PRA, Lloyd’s and overseas regulatory authorities (CBI).
  • Working with Global Ops and Tech to ensure collaboration and regional engagement on Cloud, InfoSec, Innovation, Data & Analytics to support COO’s compliance with SMF requirements and expectations.
