Internship Location This internship is located at the OmniSource, Jackson, MI. This internship will take place in Summer 2026. Time Frame: Typically 20 weeks, May - Aug, but flexible, M-F 40 hours. Responsibilities What Are My Responsibilities as an Operations Intern at OmniSource? Actively engage in the learning process covering a variety of topics. Some examples of potential topics include: Scrap metal sourcing and processing Ferrous and non-ferrous material identification Sales and customer relationship management Shadow experienced team members across departments (operations, procurement, sales, etc.) and gain hands-on experience. Complete weekly logs of activities completed throughout the week and participate in weekly touch-base with program manager. Participate in internal training classes as directed. Demonstrate growth in knowledge, initiative, and leadership potential throughout the program. Network with internal and external customers. Follow all company protocols and policies regarding safety, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Qualifications What Qualifications Do I Need? Bachelors degree in a related field, or working towards a Bachelors Willing to travel for extended periods of time Preferred GPA of 2.7 or higher. Willing to work in an industrial/hands-on environment (outdoors and around heavy equipment) Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and commitment to personal and professional growth Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willing to follow all safety regulations and advocate safety culture Steel Dynamics, Inc., and all affiliated entities are equal opportunity employers.
