We are actively looking for a Lead Hand/Operator to join our Afternoon team. Located in North Langley, our operations are central to the Fraser Valley and Vancouver.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Hand to oversee daily operations and ensure that production goals are met efficiently and safely. The Lead Hand will play a crucial role in guiding team members, managing workflow, and maintaining high standards of quality. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with staff and management.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a production setting.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and provide motivation to achieve targets
  • Ability to lift up to 23kg (50lbs)
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed by the operational schedule.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience dealing with health and safety issues, preparing incident documentation
  • Preference for candidates working in a rebar fab shop
  • Previous experience working in an industrial environment is a must
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Approved safety footwear is required
  • Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide training and support to new employees, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations, and communicate with the maintenance dept.
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and report findings to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize workflow and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee and lead the afternoon team ensuring daily and weekly targets are met.
  • Operating various machines (after training) including overhead cranes, forklift, rebar shear, rebar bender, and auto benders
  • Daily reporting of shift performance to the Production Supervisor
  • Assisting process control and machine operators in performing their duties as needed
  • Ensure all company QC and QA processes are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure a clean work area and all equipment used by operators
  • Provide leadership on shift to address any safety concerns and ensure that the site is secured at the end of the shift
  • Any additional duties as assigned
