Overview This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily production capabilities of the Company's generating assets, ensuring adequate generating capacity and efficient utilization of the assets and resources while also coordinating maintenance personnel and/or providing maintenance resource planning for the company's generation facilities, ensuring safe and reliable equipment operation in order to meet system generation requirements. Responsibilities Conducts and/or oversees daily job briefings, safety tailgates and observations to avoid unsafe practices and ensure a safe work environment. Develops employees by providing coaching, career counseling and developmental opportunities. Develops and reviews employee performance evaluations. Takes an active role in managing and improving employee performance. Drives continuous improvement of operation and maintenance activities related to individual equipment and unit systems and sub-systems. Drives the review and evaluation of operating and maintenance practices and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the utilization of the generating assets and maintenance resources. Ensures safe work practices and proper procedures are followed. Plans and schedules personnel to meet production and maintenance requirements ensuring optimal resource allocation. Ensures the safe and effective operation of equipment and ensures production interruptions are minimized. Helps to ensure optimum allocation of capital maintenance resources through work order prioritization in support of system demands and business objectives. Directs the daily operation of the generating assets to meet system demands, environmental requirements and business objectives through the coordination and scheduling of unit outages, load restrictions, personnel scheduling and utilization of resources supplied by other departments and vendors. Reviews daily production and maintenance information to ensure compliance with regulations and permit conditions. Ensures proper reporting procedures are followed when conditions warrant. Ensures equipment is properly isolated mechanically and electrically to allow for maximum worker protection when maintenance is required. Regularly reviews the status of unit conditions, equipment, and personnel performance to assure optimum efficiency and cost-effective operations are maintained. Directs corrective action as required. Develops plans for maintenance activity execution required to meet system demands and business objectives. Assists in the development of checklists for maintenance processes including special instructions for unit and equipment outages and routine maintenance processes. Assists in the identification, development and execution of preventative and predictive maintenance activities aimed at improving reliability and availability. Analyzes the root cause for equipment failures and unit shutdowns. Determines the appropriate practice and procedure to be taken to minimize recurrences. Reviews equipment maintenance records for accuracy and pertinence for equipment history and work order/equipment maintenance trends; integrate industry trends to predict maintenance requirements. Regularly reviews the status of unit conditions, equipment, and personnel performance to assure optimum efficiency and cost-effective operations are maintained. Develops maintenance recommendations in support of business objectives. Provides information and assists in the development of plant budget, operating, and investment plans. Interfaces with contractors on site for investment/maintenance projects. Ensures uniform application and consistency of Company policies and procedures for production and maintenance personnel. Qualifications Required Qualifications High School or GED 5+ years experience in related utility operation and maintenance, including production assignments. Preferred Qualifications Possess and demonstrates abilities to build team, coach, facilitate, negotiate, motivate and energize employees and others. Possesses written and verbal communication skill with all levels of personnel, skilled at influencing performance. Ability to cope with and implement change.
