POSITION OVERVIEW:
Direct and coordinate activities of the day-to-day operations of the facility in an industrial organization. Manages the shift supervisors and managers who in turn supervise department personnel of the facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the facility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities also include interviewing, addressing complaints, problem solving, and coordination of the financial responsibilities of the plant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree Statistics, Operations Mgt, Business Mgt or related field
- Eight to ten years related experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, forecasting, scheduling, real-time operations management and coordination of people and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Manages team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management.
- Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement; cultivates an environment of safety, high performance, and ethical and legal compliance; addresses employee relations issues.
- Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan facility operations.
- Plans production to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and delivery problems.Assists in directing plant activities to achieve optimum utilization of machinery and equipment, and maximum efficiency of operations.
- Evaluates employee performance, recommends candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer or termination.
- Assists in controlling and reducing scrap.
- Controls the financial spending of all departments.
- Recommends capital improvements to plant which result directly in improved safety conditions, improved quality of finished product, resulting in value added, improved efficiency, or reduction of plant variable or fixed operations costs.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes to ensure compliance with standards.
- Conducts daily meetings with the managers to control the daily operations and review any customer issues.
- Reviews the safety performance and training programs for the facility. Takes an active role in the plant’s safety programs and goals.
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring positive overall morale of the facility.
- Responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices and any other applicable Prerequisite Programs associated with the Food Safety System
- Understand and follow EHS policy and requirements specified in applicable EHS documents.
- Know where applicable system documents are located.
- Report actual and potential EHS incidents and emergencies to managers or supervisors.
- Communicate system non-conformances to managers or supervisors.
