WHY IT’S AN OPPORTUNITY NOT TO BE WASTED.

  • Ensure that all Health and Safety, Biffa policies and procedures and legal obligations are understood and adhered to by all members of staff. Periodically review and amend safety procedures as demands require or in the event of a changed or new activity. Also, then ensure these are communicated in an effective manner to all staff with appropriate records.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Client and internal/external customers. Attend Client/customer meetings as required. Ensure that all reports required as part of the Contract are delivered in time for meetings and any follow up actions are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Work with the (Senior) Business Manager to ensure that all financial/budgeted targets are achieved for the Contract including but not limited to overtime, staff numbers and revenue.
  • To support staff training and development and periodically review training requirements in support of the (Senior) Business Manager and operational requirements. Ensure all staff have an up-to-date Job Description and receive a thorough induction on joining.
  • To supervise performance of the operation and depot site in relation to contract standards. Ensure effective processes are in place to support monitoring of staff and poor behaviours and performance and issues are addressed promptly in line with Biffa Policies and Procedures i.e. Disciplinary, Grievance, Capability.
  • Constantly review the waste collections and street cleansing operations to ensure that efficiency levels are continuously improved upon, bringing value-added financial performance to the overall Contract.
  • To ensure work equipment, mobile and static, are always operated in a safe manner and in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and the correct maintenance regimes are in place and always adhered to. Ensure all staff have the appropriate training before using equipment, plant or vehicles.
  • Ensure all records and systems are maintained for effective and compliant operations of the contract. This will include regular KPI and other frequent data and ad hoc requests for information.
  • To assist the company in achieving its published Business Objectives and complying with all procedures.
  • To complete all training as instructed by your line manager.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role and at other locations as required by the Company.

Responsibilities:

To help deliver a safe, reliable and efficient household recycling and waste management service.
The role holder, reporting directly to the (Senior) Business Manager, will have Line Management responsibility for Supervisors and their teams. They will oversee the overall efficient and effective delivery of the Depot’s daily Waste Collections and Street Cleansing operations, ensuring exceptionally high levels of customer service are maintained at all times, whilst delivering on the Contract’s KPIs.
Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the contract, Biffa Policies and Procedures, industry related legislation and health and safety rules.
