We collaborate with investors to bring about change at large listed Asian companies, using dialogue, benchmarking, and research as the tools to engage senior business decision makers. ARE is headquartered in Singapore and maintains offices in Singapore and China, with a growing presence in India and Japan.
ARE is seeking an Operations Manager in China to enhance our team’s day-to-day operations at our Beijing office. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and alignment with our mission. Working closely with the China Country Director and Global Director of Operations, responsibilities include office management, IT support, corporate compliance, financial reporting and HR functions in China. The role will be supporting the wider team outside China on policy development implementation and group reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily office functions, including facilities management, administrative support, and vendor coordination, to foster an efficient, organised and productive workplace.
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager at our Singapore Head Office to align corporate practices.
  • Partner with ARE China Country Director to cultivate a high-performing team by coordinating performance management processes, enhance internal communications and drive employee engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitate recruitment process by initiating job searches, screening candidates, arranging interviews, and manage the onboarding and offboarding of staff.
  • Collaborate with the HR team in Singapore to develop and implement effective and efficient HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to local laws and regulations in China, this includes any licensing conditions, employment laws and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee China’s financial operations and cashflow management including budgeting, expense tracking and cash management.
  • Coordinate with IT vendors to manage equipment and access including laptops, systems, tech tools, and subscriptions.
  • Manage relationships with vendors including access cards arrangements and facilities bookings.
  • Assist with group reporting requirements by monitoring deadlines and coordinating the preparation of reports and data for stakeholders.

Requirements & Competencies:

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in HR, operations and/or office management.
  • Diploma level education or higher preferred.
  • Fluent in Chinese business language and business-level English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to write clearly.
  • Understanding and interest in sustainability or environmental topics.
