As the Operations Manager, you will oversee and optimise our manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality while fostering a high-performance culture. Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for leading operational strategy, enhancing team capability, managing key stakeholder relationships including unions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across both sites. Your ability to balance people leadership with operational discipline will be critical in ensuring the business continues to deliver exceptional results while maintaining a safe and engaged workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional leadership, coaching and support to leaders and teams across both manufacturing sites.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with employees, union representatives, and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop frontline leaders, ensuring leadership capability and accountability at all levels.
  • Improve communication channels between frontline teams and site leadership to drive engagement and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and deliver significant capital expenditure projects from planning through to implementation.
  • Manage equipment reliability and maintenance strategies to maximise uptime and productivity.
  • Drive operational excellence through the optimisation of manufacturing processes and implementation of industry best practices.
  • Take ownership of site P&L performance and cost centre management, ensuring strong financial outcomes and disciplined cost control.
  • Champion workplace culture initiatives and support workforce capability development through effective skills matrix implementation.
  • Lead organisational change and continuous improvement programs in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Drive safety leadership across the sites, ensuring robust safety systems, reduced risk, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Strategically partner with union representatives to ensure constructive engagement, accountability, and compliance.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a confident and influential operational leader with a proven track record of delivering results within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or a similar operational leadership environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing unionised workforces and negotiating effectively with unions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong operational leadership experience with the ability to engage, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Proven experience driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and productivity initiatives.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including P&L and cost centre management.
  • Experience managing significant capital expenditure projects and delivering business improvement outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence, communicate, and lead through change.
