OPERATIONS MANAGER (FULL TIME)

Fiber Connections Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager for our manufacturing facility located in Summerside, PE. The Operations Manager will report directly to the President and will lead the manufacturing team. This role will be responsible for directing the efficient and cost-effective operations across production, inventory, procurement, safety, quality, and lead major operational projects to optimize process flow and implement cost-saving objectives.
This is a permanent opportunity with competitive compensation and benefits. The ideal candidate will have direct experience leading a manufacturing plant and implementing process improvements using techniques and theories such as Lean Manufacturing Practice, Continuous Improvement, 5S/6S.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering is an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with a least 5 years at a management level
  • LEAN experience with Green Belt certification is a strong asset
  • Training in all applicable Occupational Safety and Health regulations is required
  • Previous P&L responsibility preferred but not a requirement
  • Well-developed administrative and management skills
  • Proven ability to train and motivate a diverse team through developing standards, coaching and team coordination
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities
  • Results-oriented with the ability to balance business objectives.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of: Materials (negotiation, MRP, supplier partnership, scheduling), Quality (Compatibility studies, SPC, supplier certification, process controls), Manufacturing (tooling, machinery, and equipment process flow)
Responsibilities
  • Direct the plant operations of the manufacturing, safety, maintenance, capital projects, and to achieve operational objectives within the plant
  • Improve the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of company’s mission and optimize plant operations output to meet customer requirements
  • Oversee capital projects and plant engineering projects based on current process capacity, determine operational improvement initiatives, plans, corrective actions to optimize plant operations across control systems and plant equipment, provide input on capital investment
  • Evaluate process capability, reliability, and overall efficiency to develop improvement strategy and further optimize safety, reliability, and efficiency across all automated systems
  • Monitor and develop plant KPI and metrics, collect, analyze data concerning plant output, cost, cut/yield, scrap to identify areas of improvement and cost saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Team to develop and improve Inventory KPIs and metrics on raw and finished goods, optimize safety stock strategy to avoid shortage, overstock, and obsolescence issues, promote inventory accuracy to effectively control inventory cost
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Sales Teams based on short-term and long-term planning and production demand to improve materials flow, implement Kanban and lean process to shorten lead-time and improve overall inventory performance (turns, DOH, Safety Stock, Cycle Stock)
  • Collaborate with Purchasing team to improve procurement strategies, ensure proper replenishment strategy to meet production volume and avoid slow-moving inventory
  • Develop strategic plan by studying manufacturing productivity trends and financial results
  • Plan and manage the operations budget, P&L responsibility relating to plant costs
  • Assist in creation of annual budgets, and assists with annual CAPEX project list
  • Oversee production and process performance, identify opportunities for improvement and drive LEAN and Continuous Improvement to achieve cost savings and higher efficiency
  • Maintain quality and service levels by establishing and enforcing work standards
  • Develop and implement internal policies and procedures
  • Support and enforce safety regulations
  • Review objectives in each functional area of operations and create atmosphere for employee growth and succession plans
  • Oversee training of employees in the use of equipment or production techniques and quality requirements
