Description

Who We Are

Stramit is Australia’s leading vertically integrated steel manufacturer and total steel building material solutions provider. Part of Fletcher Building, we provide innovative steel building solutions across roofing, walling, structural and rainwater products for residential, commercial and industrial projects throughout Australia. Our purpose is focused on improving the world around us through smart thinking, simply delivered, while creating real value for our customers.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Maddington site in Western Australia. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role with accountability across manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain and transport. You will connect each part of the operation to deliver safe, reliable and efficient outcomes for our people and customers.

Working closely with regional and national support teams, you will set the operational rhythm for the site, strengthen capability and drive practical improvement. You will have the scope to influence performance across the full value chain, from planning and production through to dispatch and delivery.

This opportunity will suit a respected steel industry leader who understands roll-forming operations, enjoys being visible on the floor and knows how to bring teams together around clear priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety: Lead a safety-first culture, embed Zero Harm principles and ensure risks are actively identified and controlled.
  • Lead End-to-End Operations: Provide clear direction across manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain and transport.
  • Drive Performance: Deliver site plans and operational targets aligned with business and customer priorities.
  • Build Capability: Coach and develop leaders and teams, strengthening accountability, engagement and succession.
  • Improve Reliability and Flow: Lift equipment reliability, production efficiency, planning discipline and delivery performance.
  • Manage Resources: Own site budgets, labour and operating costs, and maximise effective use of people, plant and materials.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement: Use data, systems and practical problem-solving to improve safety, quality, DIFOT and productivity.
  • Collaborate: Build strong partnerships across sales, customer service and support functions to deliver a better customer experience.

About You

  • You are an experienced operations leader who combines strong technical understanding with genuine people leadership. You are comfortable moving between the factory floor and commercial discussions, and you make clear, balanced decisions in a fast-paced environment.
