Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: Genpower Ltd, Unit 3, St. Modwen Park, Newport NP19 4RG
Working hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We currently operate across 2 shifts which are 6am to 3pm and 9am to 6pm but flexibility may be required within a 6am to 6pm time frame to meet the needs of the business. Additionally, Saturday shifts will be required on a rotational basis (e.g. one in four), paid at the overtime rate.
Genpower Ltd is the exclusive distributor for Hyundai Power Products for the UK and Ireland, and worldwide distributor for JCB Power Products. We currently operate out of 4 UK-based locations including Newport, Pembroke Dock (HQ), Warrington and Romsey with a global reach.
Our Newport facility is a 100,000 sq ft, state of the art warehouse with 16,000 pallet capacity and 10 loading docks. Our warehouse management system allows a free flow of stock through our warehouse facilities along with a third-party logistics (3PL) facility. This includes automated stock checks using drone technology, a customer portal, live pick-pack and ship status updates with a next day delivery service for items under 70kg.
Our Operations Managers play a key role in ensuring the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of goods, maintaining optimal warehouse operations. This includes overseeing daily activities to ensure the warehouse operates safely and cost-effectively.
This role involves managing inventory, leading a team of 22 colleagues and implementing best practices to enhance productivity and accuracy while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. You will support a fast-paced and dynamic warehouse environment, handling up to 1,600 daily dispatches, including both our own orders and third-party logistics (3PL) consignments. Additionally, the warehouse receives an average of 5–7 product containers per day.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in warehouse operations management within a fast-paced environment (5+ years).
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse management software.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Warehouse Management: Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across all areas, including goods-in, storage and dispatch.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain accurate stock levels, conduct regular audits and implement strategies to minimise loss, discrepancies, and inefficiencies.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of warehouse staff, including training, performance monitoring and workforce planning to meet business demands.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all warehouse activities comply with H&S regulations, conducting risk assessments and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement operational efficiencies, utilising technology and best practices to optimise warehouse performance and provide solutions.
  • Supplier & Logistics Coordination: Liaise with suppliers, transport companies and internal teams to ensure timely receipt and dispatch of goods.
  • Customers & Vendors: Liaise with customers and vendors to resolve any issues related to orders, shipments or returns. Ensuring customer satisfaction by meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Reporting & Performance Analysis: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for senior management to drive continuous improvement. This also includes monitoring and controlling operational costs aiming for cost-effectiveness without sacrificing quality or safety.
