Description

Operations Manager required for contract in healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Operations Officer, deputise in their absence and also have key working relationships with other Senior Managers. They will be responsible for the day to day running of operational services.

The Operations Manager will have responsibilities involving a number of functional areas. The following functions will report directly to the Operations Manager:

  • Various External pm service providers
  • Catering Services
  • Portering Services
  • Management of contracted services including: -

  • Security

  • Cleaning
  • Waste Management

  • Hygiene Services

  • Transport Services

  • Facilities Management

Administration

  • To induct, oversee, manage and supervise staff and resources in the departments listed above.
  • Ensure departments and staff have a customer service ethos and adhere to this ethos.
  • Liaison with HR department in relation to HR & IR issues.
  • Implement budget and produce regular reports on expenditure.
  • Develop close working relationship with Chief Operations Officer, Building Services Engineer and other Senior Managers in within the organisation.
  • Prepare, update and review Policies & Procedures and Guidelines in relation to areas under their control. Implementation, roll out and monitoring of these Policies & Procedures and Guidelines.
  • Develop and roll out projects for Operational Services.
  • Working with senior management on the on-going evaluation and prioritisation of work and allocation of resources in relation to specific areas of responsibility.
  • Collect, interpret and present data / information on the department’s activities, staffing and expenditure.
  • Encourage the professional development of team members through promoting self-learning and formal courses through performance evaluation, counselling and training on new procedures to promote a culture of collaborative multi-disciplinary team working.
  • To be fully familiar with the terms of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act and all relevant policy documents of the Network e.g. Managing Attendance Policy, Safety Statement and all HR policies.

Standards, regulations, policies, procedures & legislation

  • Have a working knowledge of accreditation and standards as they apply to the role, and demonstrate an ability to comply with associated HSE protocols for implementation and maintaining these standards.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for own area.
  • Assess and analyse compliance with National and EU legislative obligations, and national policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures and current standards within area of responsibility.
  • Maintain own knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and practices to perform the role effectively and to ensure standards are met by own team.
  • Be confident on applying and using the relevant procurement mechanisms, including knowledge on e-tenders.
  • Pursue continuous professional development in order to develop management expertise and professional knowledge.
