Preferred –

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in the engineering field).
  • Possess 15-20 years of similar or related experience.
  • Experience in the implementation of lean manufacturing.
  • Detail oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Basic proficiency and experience in an ERP system and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in project management, LEAN/Kaizen Initiatives.
  • Experience in managing over 50 people in a manufacturing setting.
  • Responsible for all key manufacturing metrics and schedule attainment.
  • Knowledge of SAP manufacturing software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Incumbent must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands/fingers to feel, and handle; the employee must regularly reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is regular factory noises and is generally loud. Wearing the proper PPE (protective eyewear, ear plugs and steal toed shoes) is a requirement in most areas of this facility.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products.
  • Analyze and manage work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that balance customer needs with available capacity.
  • Compute the amount of stock and supplies required for operation (based on production schedule) and requisition materials from storage area.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties appropriately.
  • Plan the flow of materials through the departments and develop the physical layout of machines according to work orders.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to quality specifications.
  • Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Prioritize, organize, and schedule work within team as required to meet department and work center demands. Ensure all capacity and resource goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for employee selection, development, training, performance reviews and corrective action.
  • Comply with and adhere to all federal, state, and local laws including OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for enforcing all safety policies in your department/departments.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Initiate and implement innovative changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintain time, attendance, training, and production records.
  • Develop capital equipment proposals for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
  • Schedule and plan capacity.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Lead lean initiatives and implementation throughout your department/departments.
