Based in the North GTA, the Operations Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations and is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and controlling activities in a manner that ensures the highest possible levels of productivity, quality, on time delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability while maintaining a positive and safe work environment.
The ideal individual will have Minimum of ten (10) years experience in a variety of manufacturing sectors, including a minimum of eight (8) in a leadership position, with significant expertise in leading Lean, Six Sigma initiatives, managing growth, introducing and successfully implementing new manufacturing methodologies and technologies, possess a strong entrepreneurial sense, experience with setting and implementing business strategies, providing exceptional customer service, and a sound business financial understanding.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, lead, and motivate a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Strong familiarity with JIT, Lean Manufacturing, MRP, and ERP systems.
  • Technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering, or as a technologist, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing manufacturing processes and performance metrics (KPIs).
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution, employee discipline, and effective task delegation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of material specifications and company operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with relevant machinery in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle challenging situations tactfully and judiciously.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as required.
  • Willingness and capability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations for estimating and managing material quantities.
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines during regular and peak periods, and to respond to last-minute demands.

Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Technologist or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations leadership roles such as Production Manager, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall business performance.
  • Define and monitor performance measurement (KPI) and take actions to ensure operational and strategic goals are in alignment.
  • Oversee and optimize day-to-day operations, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow across all departments.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Operations and the finance team to develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial stability and growth.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and revenue-generating strategies.
  • Build and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promoting professional development.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential changes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
